Taiwan's 14 primary and middle schools have won a total of 21 medals awarded at the International Schools Cyberfair 2002, reports Taipei said Friday.
This is the fifth year that schools in Taiwan have attended the contest that started seven years ago. Organized this year under the theme of "care and unite," students from 2,500 schools in 75 countries and regions used the Internet to publish stories about people or programs in their own communities that convey a sense of caring.
Taiwan schools won three platinum, four gold and five silver medals, as well as nine medals for honorable mention in eight categories -- local leaders, businesses, community organizations, historical landmarks, the environment, music, art and local specialties.
The annual International Schools CyberFair was created by the Global School Net Foundation, which was established in 1990 with the purpose of demonstrating and promoting international collaborative learning.
