Song Zhaosu, of the Han ethnic group, was born in March 1941. A native of Nanyang, Henan Province, Song began his career in August 1964 after he graduated from the Department of Political Science of Zhengzhou University. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in May 1965.
Song?s work experience is as follows:
October 1980-July 1982: deputy secretary of the CPC Shangshui County Committee and magistrate of Shangshui County, Henan Province; July 1982-August 1983: secretary of the CPC Taikang County Committee, Henan Province; August 1983-September 1984: deputy secretary of the CPC Zhoukou Prefectural Committee, Henan Province; September 1984-January 1988: a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee, and secretary of the Committee of Political and Legal Affairs and director of the Secrets Committee of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee; January 1988-April 1993: a standing committee member of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee and vice-governor of Henan; April 1993-March 1998: deputy secretary of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee; March 1998-Aril 1998: deputy secretary of the CPC Gansu Provincial Committee. In April 1998, he became deputy secretary of the CPC Gansu Provincial Committee, vice-governor and acting governor of Gansu; and since January 2001 he has been serving as secretary of the CPC Gansu Provincial Committee.
Song is an alternate member of the 15th CPC Central Committee.
