The Founding Ceremony of the People's Republic of China

On October 1, 1949, 300,000 soldiers and local citizens assembled in Tian'anmen Square to attend the grand founding ceremony of the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

At 14:00, the Central People's Government Council elected by the First Plenary Session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its first meeting. Mao Zedong, chairman of the Central People's Government, vice chairpersons Zhu De, Liu Shaoqi, Soong Ching Ling (1893-1981), Li Jishen (1885-1959), Zhang Lan (1872-1955) and Gao Gang (1905-1954), Zhou Enlai and 55 other members of the Council took office. The meeting passed a resolution that announced the establishment of the Central People's Government and adopted the Common Program of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference as the administrative guideline of the new government.

After the meeting, all the participants mounted the Tian'anmen Rostrum for the founding ceremony of the People's Republic. At 15:00, Lin Boqu, secretary-general of the Central People's Government Council, announced the start of the ceremony. Mao Zedong solemnly proclaimed: "The Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China is founded today." He pressed a button and hoisted the first five-star red flag of New China. He then read the No. 1 Proclamation of the Central People's Government. This was followed by a military review and a grand parade.

The founding of the People's Republic was a grand event in the history of China, and one of the greatest world events of the 20th century, demonstrating the victory of the Chinese people's anti-imperialist and anti-feudal new democratic revolution under the leadership of the CPC. No more would a small number of exploiters rule the Chinese people and the imperialists enslave the Chinese nation. The Chinese people stood up and became masters of the state. It marked China's great transition from several thousand years of feudal autocracy to a people's democracy, and a new era began for the Chinese nation.

開(kāi)國(guó)大典

1949年10月1日，30萬(wàn)軍民在北京天安門廣場(chǎng)集會(huì)，隆重舉行了中華人民共和國(guó)中央人民政府成立典禮，史稱“開(kāi)國(guó)大典”。

當(dāng)日下午2時(shí)，中國(guó)人民政治協(xié)商會(huì)議第一屆全體會(huì)議選舉產(chǎn)生的中央人民政府委員會(huì)舉行了第一次會(huì)議。中央人民政府主席毛澤東，副主席朱德、劉少奇、宋慶齡、李濟(jì)深、張瀾、高崗以及周恩來(lái)等56名中央人民政府委員宣布就職。會(huì)議一致決議，宣布中華人民共和國(guó)中央人民政府成立，接受《中國(guó)人民政治協(xié)商會(huì)議共同綱領(lǐng)》為施政方針。

會(huì)議結(jié)束后，中央人民政府主席、副主席及各位委員前往天安門城樓出席開(kāi)國(guó)典禮。下午3時(shí)，中央人民政府委員會(huì)秘書長(zhǎng)林伯渠宣布典禮開(kāi)始。毛澤東向全世界莊嚴(yán)宣布：“中華人民共和國(guó)中央人民政府今天成立了！”在《義勇軍進(jìn)行曲》的雄壯旋律中，毛澤東按動(dòng)電鈕，新中國(guó)第一面鮮艷的五星紅旗冉冉升起。隨即，毛主席向全世界宣讀中央人民政府第一號(hào)公告。接著舉行了盛大的閱兵式和群眾游行。

中華人民共和國(guó)的成立，標(biāo)志著中國(guó)共產(chǎn)黨領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的人民大眾的反帝反封建的新民主主義革命的勝利，是中國(guó)有史以來(lái)最偉大的事件，也是20世紀(jì)世界最偉大的事件之一。它徹底結(jié)束了少數(shù)剝削者統(tǒng)治廣大勞動(dòng)人民和帝國(guó)主義奴役中國(guó)各族人民的歷史，中國(guó)人民從此當(dāng)家作主成為國(guó)家的主人，實(shí)現(xiàn)了中國(guó)從幾千年封建專制政治向人民民主的偉大飛躍，中華民族發(fā)展進(jìn)步從此開(kāi)啟了新紀(jì)元。
