Erdeni Losang Qamba Lhunzhub Qoigyijabu, the 11th Panchen Lama, on Wednesday received homage from distinguished monks from the Zhaxi Lhunbo Lamasery in Xigaze in the Tibet Autonomous Region, southwest China.
The 11th Panchen Lama has blessed over 30,000 Buddhists over five half days.
The 13-year-old 11th Panchen Lama was chosen in front of the statue of Sakyamuni in December of 1995 as the reincarnation of the late 10th Panchen Lama by the tradition of several candidates drawing lots from a golden urn.
Since June 11 the Panchen has been holding Buddhist services in Lhasa and Xigaze to pray for good harvests and prosperity throughout the country.
His tutor, Jamjang Galco says "The 11th Panchen Lama has an extraordinary memory and great wisdom. He respects the old and loves the young and has made tremendous progress in his learning of the Tibetan Buddhism scriptures."
The Zhaxi Lhunbo Lamasery has held a series of Buddhist rituals recently to ask for longevity and health for the 13-year-old Panchen Lama.
Buddhist from both domestic and overseas have joined the group to wait for the blessing of the 11th Panchen.
