The People's Daily publishes a commentary Monday on the upcoming 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) scheduled for November 8 this year.
All of the delegates to the congress have been elected, a step which has established a firm foundation for the convention, says the commentary.
The delegates, who represent over 66 million CPC members in the country, will reflect the opinions and requirements of all the CPC members, discuss and decide important issues of the Party and elect a new CPC Central Committee and Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, according to the commentary.
The quality and ability of the delegates are important because they are closely linked to the success of the convention and to the leadership and the career of the Party, it says.
The election process is conducive to the development of democracy within the CPC, and the delegates are of high political quality and their composition is sound, it notes.
The success of the election lies in the clear guidelines of the CPC Central Committee and the participation of all the Party members in the election, it points out. The election has also provided a great deal of experience for the development of democracy within the CPC and will be helpful to the work in the future.
The election has reflected the great vitality of the CPC. All the elected delegates will certainly contribute to a successful convention, lay out a more brilliant blueprint for the Party and the country, and leave a splendid record in history, the commentary concludes.
