Members of China International Medical Team are treating people injured in tsunami. From December 2004 to January 2005, China sent four medical teams to the tsunami-hit areas, including Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and provided more than 1.2 billion yuan (about US$148.4 million) of funds and relief materials. The disaster, which occurred on December 26, 2004 in the Indian Ocean, claimed over 200,000 lives.
