China's Harbin Power Engineering Company Limited won the bid for building Vietnam's Cao Ngan 100 megawatt (Mw) Thermal Power Plant.
The contract signing ceremony for bid package of the thermal power plant project was held here Tuesday morning.
Cao Ngan thermal plant, located in Thai Nguyen province and 80 km to the north of Vietnamese capital Hanoi, will be started to build in 2002.
Under the contract, the Harbin company will provide two thermal generating sets with capacity of 50 Mw each. The building of the first generating set will be finished in 25 months since its construction starting, and the second in 3 months later.
The Chinese government will provide a favorable loan of US$85.5 million to the Cao Ngan thermal plant project.
An official of Vietnam Nation Coal Corporation told Xinhua that Cao Ngan Thermal Power Plant will actively serve the production and life of local people.
The contract signing ceremony was attended by Chinese Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Shi Guangsheng, Vietnamese Minister of Industry Dang Vu Chu, and Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Qi Jianguo.
