Shanghai Theaters Stage Information
Theaters in town are awakening from their SARS-induced slumber. The Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center has taken the first steps with a new round of shows starting with one inspired by the SARS scare.

If there was only one man and one woman left in the world, what would happen between them? The answer is nothing less than love. ">=Lover" (Equal or More Than Lover) tells a love story about a man and a woman who are quarantined in an apartment during the SARS outbreak.

Lu Liang, famous actor and anchor of "Date on Saturday", a popular match-making TV programme, is cast as the chief actor in this drama with Cao Yanyan as his lover. Famous actors, familiar background, humorous dialogues and true love are expected to add up to a highly emotional experience for the audience.

Two overseas dramas will provide an exotic flavor for drama-enthusiasts. One is "Three Blind Mice" by the queen of detective writers, Agatha Christie. Written in 1947, the drama was written for the celebration of the 80th birthday of Queen Mary. Christie is famous for her frightening plots and humorous dialogues and "Three Blind Mice" is no exception.

Another arrival is "Rooted" from Australia, which is full of black humor. The young actors An Zehao and Ruan Danning will lead you on a journey interwoven with laughters and tears.

Students from Zhejiang University are bringing "I Love AK47" to Shanghai. Adapted from a story popular on the Internet, this drama appears certain to be a great hit with young people.

Last but not least, "Perfume" will tell you a story about bottled fragrances, taking place in Shanghai, Paris and a French town.

This festival, combined with first-rate art and popular prices, provides some attractive choices for the long hot summer.
