British soccer star David Beckham and Hong Kong pop diva Faye
Wong were dubbed the trendiest man and woman in a recent Chinese
survey.
The survey, conducted jointly by Cosmopolitan magazine and the
Horizon Research Consultancy Group, interviewed over 1,300 people
in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and in the secondary
cities of Hangzhou, Wuhan, Nanjing, Xi'an, Shenyang and Chengdu,
about their views on fashion.
Real Madrid sports star Beckham and pop singer Wong were labeled
the most fashionable figures. Paris was voted the world's top
fashion city and Shanghai topped the fashion center ratings for
China.
Those surveyed belong to high and mid-income groups with a
monthly income of over 1,800 yuan (US$225) in secondary cities and
3,000 yuan (US$375) in big cities.
Many agreed that blogs are the coolest vanguard communication
medium and magazines the most faddish traditional one.
The survey showed that the urbanites have been severely bitten
by the fashion bug. Senior management, office tweens and young
students are major consumers of trendy brand names.
