Hong Kong director Stanley Kwan denied Sunday's news claiming
that he had invited Stephen Chow to play Bruce Lee in his new
biopic about the Kung Fu legend.
Beijing Morning Post reported Stanley Kwan as saying the film is
still in the blueprint stage and describing all news about Stephen
Chow's leading the film as 'false reporting'.
"I believe this false news results from misrepresentations or
misunderstandings on the part of media agencies. It is confirmed
only that the investor of 'Bruce Lee' will cooperate with Stephen
Chow's film company on another film," said Stanley Kwan.
Stanley Kwan said there would be three actors to play the part
of Bruce Lee to mark three important periods in Bruce Lee's life:
around the age of 10, 15 and manhood.
He refused to reveal any further details.
Five renowned Chinese directors, namely Stanley Kwan, Hark Tsui,
Kar-Wai Wong, Stephen Chow and Ann Hui, have reportedly jointly
hired an award-winning media service, J.A. Media.
The company will fund new projects from the five directors, and
will formally announce the films at the upcoming Cannes Film
Festival in May.
Stanley Kwan serves as the artistic director for the company.
His "Bruce Lee" film is among the list.
