An undersea earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale shook the east coast of New Zealand's North Island shortly before noon on Monday, causing no damages.
The quake, occurred at 11:47 a.m. (22:47 GMT Sunday), was centered 730 km northeast of Auckland and 350 km south-west of Raoul Island, New Zealand's Institute of Geological and Nuclear Science reported.
It was at a depth of 418 km.
