Chinese show great concern for climate change

Climate change was one of the top three concerns globally, on a par with economic stability and terrorism, while 57 percent of people from the Chinese mainland strongly agreed that it was amongst the biggest issues they worry, the highest level in all 15 countries and regions, according to the latest survey released by HSBC Tuesday.
The on-line survey named "Climate Confidence Monitor"was launch by HSBC in September. About 1,000 respondents were surveyed in each of 15 countries and regions, including the United States, France, Japan, Brazil and the Chinese mainland.
About 58 percent of respondents from the Chinese mainland were confident that the people and organization that should be doing something about climate change were doing what was needed. Two-thirds showed strong commitment to reducing impacts of climate change through everyday life.
Besides, recycling household waste, reducing home heating and air-conditioning, and implementing energy-saving home improvements were seen as the top three important steps to combat climate change globally.
It was HSBS's fourth climate change survey which aimed to arouse public's awareness on the issue and in turn to encourage proper actions.
