There is a slight snow in Beijing in the morning of December 10, 2008. The capital city experienced one of its most polluted days of the year on December 9, with the pollution index hitting 247 citywide and 399 in southern areas, the environmental protection bureau said.

The bad air quality was due to a lack of wind to disperse pollutants caused by road construction projects and coal-fired heaters, Li Xin, its chief engineer, said.

Snow forecast for today should help clear the air, he said.
