The Australian team for Turin Winter Olympics will remain
unchanged after two athletes withdrew their appeals against not
being selected.
Figure skater Miriam Manzano withdrew her appeal and Jo Carter
will represent Australia in the women's individual event in Turin,
the Australian Olympic Committee said in a statement.
Also, Danielle Lynch withdrew her appeal to oust Kylie Reed in
the women's two-man bobsleigh team, with Reed to partner Astrid
Loch-Wilkinson, the AOC said.
Last week, the AOC said a record 40 Australian athletes, 22 men
and 18 women, would go to the Feb. 10-24 games in Turin, Italy.
For the Salt Lake City Games four years ago, Australia sent 27
athletes and won its first two Winter Olympic gold medals.
Speedskater Steven Bradbury won the 1,000-meter short-track
event after the four skaters ahead of him fell in the final.
However, he has retired from the sport and will become a
commentator for Australian TV station.
Aerials skier Alisa Camplin who won Australia's second gold in
Salt Lake City, will defend her title in Turin after recovering
from knee surgery in October when a patella tendon from a donor
cadaver was used to repair her knee.
