China holds indisputable sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said in Beijing on Saturday.
When asked to comment on the report of the remarks made by a US?senator Wednesday that Japan is in actual control of the Diaoyu Islands after the World War Two and the United States also admits Japan's sovereignty over the islands, Qin said the Chinese side has shown concern over the report.
The Diaoyu Islands belong to the Chinese territory since ancient times, said Qin, noting that China holds indisputable sovereignty over the islands and no one can change this fact.
According to the report of Taiwan's "Central News Agency" on Friday, Japan's Sankei Shimbun reported on the same day that US Senator Jim Webb said that the United States had admitted Japan's sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands.
According to the report, Jim Webb made the remarks at a Senate hearing on Wednesday.
