紐約佩斯大學(xué)孔子學(xué)院4月29日舉辦公眾開放日暨中國文化日活動(dòng),慶祝該??鬃訉W(xué)院成立兩周年,向美國師生和當(dāng)?shù)孛癖娊榻B中國文化。
The Confucius Institute at New York's Pace University marked its two-year anniversary on April 29 with a public event to introduce Chinese culture to teachers, students and local residents.

當(dāng)天的活動(dòng)內(nèi)容包括參觀孔子學(xué)院、動(dòng)手實(shí)驗(yàn)室及參加文化活動(dòng)。每位參與者都可以現(xiàn)場揮毫潑墨,練習(xí)中國書法,或是切磋中國武術(shù)和氣功(一種深呼吸鍛煉方式)心得。該學(xué)院每周一次的語言文化聚會“漢語角”吸引了許多當(dāng)?shù)刂形膼酆谜撸麄冊谟H切友好的氣氛中練習(xí)中文會話,同時(shí)品嘗傳統(tǒng)中國美食。
The event featured tours of the Confucius Institute, hands-on workshops and cultural activities. Participants were able to learn Chinese calligraphy on-site, practice Chinese martial art and qigong (a system of deep breathing exercises). The Chinese Corner, a weekly Chinese language and cultural gathering, attracted lots of non-native Chinese speakers to chat in and practice Chinese in a welcoming and friendly environment and enjoy traditional Chinese cuisines.
紐約市議員文森特?真蒂萊也在這所孔子學(xué)院學(xué)習(xí)中文課程。他說:“紐約市是一座國際化大都市,孔子學(xué)院建在此地意義非凡。我們有機(jī)會在這里學(xué)習(xí)中文,更深入地了解彼此的文化,”
New York Council Member Vincent Gentile is taking a Chinese course at the Confucius Institute. "New York City is a cosmopolitan city and it is so great to have the Confucius Institute here. We have the ability to learn Chinese here and understand each other's cultures better," he said.
佩斯大學(xué)孔子學(xué)院副院長周艷玉博士說,孔子學(xué)院已成為連接?xùn)|西方文化的一座橋梁。
Dr. Zhou Yanyu, associate director of the institute, said that the Confucius Institute serves as a bridge to connect the East and the West.
周艷玉說:“我們希望中國文化和語言能夠深入到紐約更多的社區(qū)當(dāng)中,以促進(jìn)美中兩國人民之間的跨文化了解?!?br/>"We hope to enable Chinese culture and language to reach out to more communities in New York to facilitate cross-cultural understanding between people in the United States and China," Zhou said.
佩斯大學(xué)孔子學(xué)院成立于2009年5月,是紐約第一所依托大學(xué)設(shè)立的孔子學(xué)院。該學(xué)院集教學(xué)、學(xué)術(shù)研究及專業(yè)技能為一體,旨在促進(jìn)美中兩國的文化交流。
Founded in May 2009, the Confucius Institute at Pace University is the first university-based institute of its kind in New York, aiming at integrating pedagogical, scholarly and professional expertise to promote U.S.-China cultural exchanges.
