The Cross-Strait Chinese Character Art Festival kicked off in Beijing Imperial Ancestral Temple on September 16, 2010. This is the first cultural exchange activity co-sponsored by the mainland and Taiwan with the theme of heritage and protection of Chinese characters. During the opening ceremony, nearly 200 calligraphists and students from both sides give a performance of traditional Chinese calligraphy.
