Qianmen street already encapsulates old Beijing culture, so it was only natural that someone would organize the first Qianmen Historical Culture Festival, which got underway on Tuesday. Now, whether you want to shop for some time honored brands, or taste some favorite Beijing snacks, taking a walk to Qianmen Street is certainly worth the trip.

It's been a year since Qianmen street at the heart of Beijing reopened to the public after a large scale renovation.
Twenty-one vintage shops line the streets, all in the archaic buildings enjoyed by those who yearn for the days of old Beijing.
And the first ever Qianmen Historical Culture Festival aims to revive the prosperous scene of old Qianmen, with vendors hawking their merchandise along its alleys.
All 21 old brands will set up booths along the lane. You will find tea, silk, cloth shoes, hats, scissors, and of course an assortment of restaurants.
The event runs from September 28th until October 15th and is prepared to welcome festival crowds.
Apart from the street business, the event also has exhibitions on the "History of Beijing Axis", "Qianmen Gadgets and Relics", and "Beijing Old Brands." And don't miss the talented craftsmen who will make fans right at their booths.
