The book stressed that a good acupuncture doctor should know how to use acupuncture to cure and prevent diseases, promoted the works of ancient doctors and the development of acupuncture. Meanwhile, the types of the needles used in acupuncture, along with the taboos, channels, location of points, and operation of acupuncture is also discussed in the book. A total of 649 acupuncture points are included in "Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing," 189 more than in the "Huangdi Neijing" ("The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon").
