Electronic plane tickets will soon replace paper ones in China. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) will stop offering paper tickets to Chinese travel agents from May 31, the Beijing News reports.
At present, 95% of all air tickets sold in China are electronic ones. IATA started its e-ticket drive in 2004. Headquartered in Geneva, the governing body represents over 240 airlines around the world, operating 94% of all international flights.
Currently, 84% of passengers on IATA airlines use e-tickets. With their flights details registered on computer systems, passengers using e-tickets only need their passports to check-in at airports.
