III. Secured Supply of Emergency Industrial Products
MIIT quickly launched its contingency plans for emergency supply of medical and industrial products. It strengthened contact with the Ministry of Health and Qinghai Provincial Government to circulate quake relief announcements among its local counterpart departments, particularly requiring secured supply of emergency industrial products in Qinghai and its neighboring Sichuan and Gansu Provinces. As of 8 AM, April 19, a total of 500 stretchers, 1000 upper and lower limb splints and 150 surgery kits had been allocated to hard-hit areas in two batches. 8 digging machines were coordinated to be provided to hit areas. Based on requirements from related agencies, efforts had been made to guarantee supply of power generating facilities, daily necessities, stationeries and goods for students to re-attend classes and to ensure timely and efficient supply of emergency industrial products. Meanwhile, according to real situations in disease prevention and reconstruction, measures had also been taken to prepare vaccines, disinfection-related products and construction materials.
Local MIIT agencies were also motivated to joint relief efforts. On April 15, the Qinghai Provincial Economic Commission had organized companies to work night after night to produce 200 pieces of Xinnaoxin capsules and 140 pieces of Hongjingtian capsules to help relieve rescuers from syndromes triggered by high altitude. As of April 18, 96 vehicles had arrived at hit areas with 838 tons of gasoline, 930 tons of diesel oil and 22 tons of kerosene. An additional 15 vehicles were on their way. Up to date, 6 teams of 517 persons for emergency power recovery had been dispatched and the transformer station in Jiegu Township is in operation to supply power to the General Commanding Office for Quake Relief. 8 drinking water and instant noodle producers within the province had been organized to work with their full capacity to satisfy urgent demands of supply. The Sichuan Provincial Economic Commission had sent 2 power rescue teams, transported power generators and related vehicles, goods and materials to those hit areas and allocated urgently 93 tons of oil products to gas pumps in Baiyu, Dege, Ganzi and Seda County and other areas affected by the Yushu earthquake. The Gansu Provincial Commission of Industry and Information Technology had provided 125 tents for free and prioritized Yushu's demands for coal supply, which effectively alleviated conflicts due to imbalance between supply and demand.
Industries and enterprises had been active in undertaking their social responsibilities. 40 medical companies including Beijing Shuanghe Pharmaceutical Cooperation had donated 30 million yuan worth of medical goods and materials and 4 million yuan in money. The Fujian Daimler Automotive Co., Ltd., which was just put to production, decided to donate its first-manufactured Benz to the hit areas. Jin Mai Lang Food Co., Ltd. had contributed 100,000 packages of instant noodles. More than 100 pieces of equipment were provided by engineering and machinery companies including the Liugong Group.
