Hosts China fought their way to a 6-1 win over South Korea in the Olympic women's hockey?in?on Saturday.
The win awarded China a chance to get the second semifinal spot fighting against Australia, who were defeated 2-1 by world champions the Netherlands in the morning.
South Korea were totally knocked out of the medal rounds for four losses out of four matches.
The match went quite tight until the 30th minute when forward Tang Chunling opened the scoring with a field goal which put China 1-0 ahead. Three minutes later, Tang added a second goal to take China 2-0 up at halftime.
In the second half, China put on a perfect show by scoring three consecutive goals from the fourth minute on, one goal in each minute.
Among the three field goals, two were from Fu Baorong and the other was again from Tang Chunling. Fu added her third goal in the 29th minute and sealed the 6-1 win for China.
South Korea got their only goal from captain Lee Seon-ok on a penalty stroke in the 18th minute.
"We've already lost a lot of matches in this tournament. So this time we focused on attacking, but that made our defence weak. China is also a very strong team, that is why we lost," said Lee.
