The Dushanbe Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has issued a declaration. Article 18 notes that the SCO member states and others worldwide will celebrate the 70th anniversary of victory in World War II. Before this, China has invited the People’s Republic of Mongolia to participate the joint commemoration of China and Russia. The countries have reached an agreement to hold a series of early celebrations.
We believe that more and more countries will take part in these activities. Russia, China and Mongolia suffered huge losses in World War II, and each made great contributions to victory.
Nowadays, the international community is far from a peaceful place. The specter of militarism is rising in some countries, and state leaders perform obeisance to the ghost. They refuse to achnowledge either their ferocious aggression or their unconditional surrender. Some victorious nations engage in appeasement to win over and buy off previous rivals, in order to protect their interests and maintain their status quo. This is a great pity - such behavior damages the anti-fascist principle.
Many positive conditions have arisen to support an impartial and reasonable international order. These include the founding principles of the United Nations, the growth of globalization, the rise of emerging nations, and positive changes in international relationships.
We will commemorate the 70th anniversary of victory in World War II, and promote worldwide justice. Let us always remember the painful lessons of history. Let us never surrender to militarism. The Chinese people will move forward on the road to justice.
