In the Men's 100m Backstroke - S9, Matthew Cowdrey of Australia had a tight race with defending champion Jarret Perry of Unites States. Over the last few meters, Cowdrey managed to take the edge and claimed gold with a world record of 1:03.34.

Defending champion Stephanie Dixon of Canada won another gold medal in the Women's 100m Backstroke - S9, bettering her world record time, swimming in 1:09.30. Dixon added a first gold to her two silvers and one bronze in the Beijing Games.

In the Men's 100m Backstroke - S10 Final, Justin Zook of United States defended his title claiming gold in 1:01.29, 0.14 seconds over the world record he set in the heats.
