Chairman Mao Zedong founded the People's Republic of China in 1949 and was one of the founders of the Chinese Communist Party in 1921. He is recognized as one of the world's most prominent Communist theoreticians. 2010 marks the 34th anniversary of his death.

China has undergone immense changes in the 34 years since Chairman Mao's death. On the one hand, China has become more affluent in material terms; on the other hand, many Chinese feel that, in the process, the country has lost some of its spirit.

Mao's radiance eternally illuminates the entire nation. He is, and will remain, at the core of the spirit of the Chinese people.
