Kawahara, who has been cycling solo across 10 countries and regions, arrived in Wuhan three weeks ago after cycling through Shanghai and Jiangsu Province, among other places. Kawahara's modified bicycle, worth an estimated 13,000 RMB, was stolen on Feb. 17 after he parked it against a wall at the entrance of Han Street on discovering that the parking lot was closed. Kawahara found that his bike was missing when he returned at 8:30 PM and subsequently reported the theft to the police. The case was investigated by Wuchang Public Security Bureau's Dongting police station. Officers eventually recovered Kawahara's bicycle from the black market on Feb. 20.
