Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo promised he will score a goal against FC Barcelona in the Camp Nou Stadium this Sunday.
The most expensive footballer in the world came off the bench to play the last 20 minutes of his side's disappointing 1-0 draw to Zurich on Wednesday night.
It was his first appearance since injuring his right ankle whilst playing for Portugal in early October. He missed almost two months and looked slightly off the pace despite almost scoring a goal in the last minute of the game.
However, speaking to local television station TeleMadrid, he promised to improve at the weekend.
"I felt OK and my ankle didn't give me any problems. I've been out of action for a while and it's normal for me not to be 100% atthe moment," said Ronaldo.
"I am confident that I can soon get back to the condition I was in before I got injured, because I want to help the team by scoring goals."
"I couldn't score today, but I will score in the next game (against Barcelona)," he added.
"I want to start in the Clasico, but that is down to the decision of our coach. I want to play, to win and to score in that game," insisted the Portuguese striker, who knows that Barcelona, who beat Inter Milan 2-0 on Tuesday, will be tough rivals.
"It will be a hard game, but we can win it. We have got our strengths and I don't care who plays for Barcelona," he said.
