Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo said on Tuesday that he was looking forward to playing against China on Wednesday.
Ronaldo was speaking to Spanish paper Diario AS from the Coimbra, where he is preparing the game with the rest of his companions from the Portuguese national team.
The forward explained that facing the Chinese would be good preparation for the World Cup, where Portugal has been drawn to play against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
"We are here to play China, a team that is similar to Korea, who we cross paths with in the World Cup," said Ronaldo., who said he would not be making any further gestures of solidarity towards his home island of Madeira, which was devastated by floods a week and a half ago.
"I am going to play for my country and I am not going to make any manifestations. We all want to win this game and everyone knows what we are doing to help the people in Madeira who need help," he said.
The striker also briefly spoke about his chances of finishing the season as top scorer in Spain, but commented that personal achievement was less important than the success of his team Real Madrid.
"It means nothing to me to finish as top scorer. What I want to do is win titles with Real Madrid. Looking at our recent games, we seem to be in better form than Barcelona, but they are still leaders and you have to respect that," said the striker.
