A song named "Time for Africa" by popular South African band Freshlyground and Colombian pop star Shakira has been chosen as the official 2010 World Cup anthem, Sport24 in South Africa reported on Saturday.
The song, "Time for Africa", is expected to be released to radio stations across the world next week and will be available for download beginning April 26.
Cape Town-base Freshlyground and Shakira will perform the song at the World Cup kick-off concert in Soweto, near Johannesburg on June 10, and at the tournament's opening ceremony and before the July 11 final.
