Golf great Tiger Woods said Wednesday that he will play in the Players Championship in Florida next month and the PGA National in Pennsylvania in July.
The world No. 1 of the United States announced his return to competition at this month's U.S. Masters after a five-month absence in the wake of a sex scandal and shared fourth finish at the event.
He usually competes in the Players, slated May 6-9 and the National on July 1-4, but this time, he filed in his schedule far earlier than normal.
"This is our event and it always attracts one of the best fields of the year," Woods said in a statement on his website. "It's a tournament everybody wants to win."
Woods is now set for four events, of which the first one is the 6.5 million U.S. dollars Quail Hollow Championship at Charlotte, North Carolina next week before the 9.5 million-dollar Players Championship.
Also he will compete in the U.S. Open, the year's second major tournament, set for June 17-20 at Pebble Beach ahead of the 6.2 million-dollar National.
