Gilberto Madail, president of the Portuguese Federation of Soccer (FPF), refused to get carried away by their national team's unprecedented high ranking.
For the first time in the history, Portugal rose to the 3rd place _ after Brazil and Spain _ in the latest FIFA world rankings.
"We were not depressed when we were at 10th place and now we will not be euphoric for being at the third," Madail said.
However, he added that despite all the problems and difficulties, Portuguese soccer has "walked a successful road".
"The 3rd place is a mark that satisfies us, but without giving us false illusions, in the other hand it is a great responsibility for all the players, leaders and coaches," Madail said.
