Sevilla' s Spain international winger said this Friday that his side intends to go out and defeat Primera Liga leaders FC Barcelona in the Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium on Saturday night.
With Barcelona taking a one point lead over Real Madrid into the last round of games a defeat or a draw could put the Spanish title on a plate for Real Madrid, but Navas says Sevilla has its own interests at heart.
Navas' side is currently fourth in the table and needs to finish in that position to return to the Champions League next season. Sevilla reached the last 16 of the competition this time around and wants another shot at European glory.
"We are going to beat Barcelona, because we want to play in the Champions League again," he told sports paper Marca on Friday.
Meanwhile club President Jose Maria del Nido said he didn' t care whether Real Madrid or Barcelona won the league title and passed over his team' s role as the 'judge' of the league.
"It doesn' t bother me at all. All I would like is for Sevilla to have the chance of winning once in a while," said Del Nido.
"In reality the game is more important for us than it is for them. They have won the title many times, while we are trying to qualify for the Champions League for just the fourth time," he pointed out.
The Sevilla President insisted that Barca would have to dig deep to win the match this Saturday. "If they play at 100 percent, then we are going to give 120 percent. We won 5-1 in Santander on Wednesday and we showed we are a powerful team," he concluded.
