Wolfsburg striker Grafite donated two goals to bring the "wolves" the third victory of the season on Sunday while Hannover earned a neat 1-0 victory over promoted Kaiserslautern.
It took 25 minutes until Wolfsburg opened the scoring through Grafite who headed home a long dead ball cross by midfielder Diego.
Freiburg remained active and aggressive to lurk for the equalizer. Their efforts were rewarded after confusion inside Wolfsburg's penalty area. Striker Papiss Demba Cisse took the chance to mark his sixth goal of the season with a poacher's goal from close distance.
After the break Wolfsburg seized the initiative when again midfielder Diego assisted with a long free kick cross to see striker Grafite who nodded into the far post corner to mark the winner at the 64th minute.
The third victory of the season moved the "Wolves" from 11th to sixth position while Freiburg slipped from fifth to seventh position.
At the other match on Sunday Hannover striker Mohammed Abdellaoue nodded the winner at the 33rd minute to wrap three points on the road against Kaiserslautern.
Hannover jumped to third place while Kaiserslautern slipped to 11th position at the Bundesliga standings after the sixth round.
