Luciano Moggi, former Juventus director general, dismissed defending champions Italy's chances at the 2010 World Cup finals.
Moggi said a number of the key stars of the 2006 World Cup winning team are now into their 30s and struggling with form and fitness. "We can forget about getting to the quarter-finals, semis or final. Our best hope is to make a good impression. Italy need to be completely revamped."
"Fabio Cannavaro has class, but his passport has expired. Gianluca Zambrotta and Gennaro Gattuso have run out of gas. We shouldn't expect much from the Azzurri." Moggi said.
"There are teams far stronger than we are, starting from Argentina, even if they left Esteban Cambiasso and Javier Zanetti behind. Brazil and England are good, but let's not underestimate Paraguay, who in qualifying beat both Brazil and Argentina."
Italy will open their campaign at the 2010 World Cup against Paraguay in Cape Town on Monday.
