Argentine soccer player Lionel Messi denied on Sunday the saying that his national team depends on him, "because it has good players who can solve the match."
Argentina nailed a 1-0 win over Nigeria in their first group match at the World Cup on Saturday when the 22-year-old Messi played a major role but he said Argentina had great team work.
During a press conference, Messi hailed the strength of his team.
"Since we arrived here, everything changed, the mind of the group, mine. The time helped us, we used it; I had more contact with the ball I went back to be near the midfielders."
"I had bad moments with the national team, when things were not going fine, not only me, but also my fellows. The qualifying rounds were not good and I did not have a good time, that is why waking up today was nice, I enjoyed the day," Messi added.
Forward Gabriel Heinze who scored the winning goal, said, "I depend on getting the ball, yesterday we did it and I think I took the possibility."
