Ye Shiwen has won the women’s 400 meter individual medley with a world record time of 4:28.43. It was a remarkable 100 meter freestyle from Ye after the breaststroke turnover that did it.

The silver medal went to US swimmer Elizabeth Beisel. Another Chinese swimmer Li Xuanxu won bronze. It is only the third time ever China has had two swimmers on the podium.
