Chinese divers continued to dominate the 12th FINA Southern
Cross Diving Grand Prix with four wins out of five events in two
days' competition at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Center on
Tuesday.
Russia stopped a complete Chinese wipeout by winning the men's
10m synchronized diving.
World and Olympic champion Guo Jingjing (400 points) completed a
nine-point victory over compatriot Li Ting (390.95) in the women's
3m springboard.
It was China's third one-two finish in two days following their
domination of the men's 3m-springboard and women's 10m platform
Monday.
China's Olympic synchro champion Lao Lishi and her new partner
Chen Ruolin won the women's 10m synchro event.
The Chinese combination scored 359.28 to defeat Australians
Chantelle Newbery and Loudy Tourky (343.74) with Russia's Yana
Zaitseva and Olga Vintonyak third at 299.67.
Russia's world champions Gleb Galperin and Dmitry Dobroskok
broke the Chinese domination to take gold in the men's 10m
synchro.
The experienced duo scored 460.20 from their six dives to
comfortably defeat Chinese youngsters Lin Yue and Zhang Chen
(443.7) and Australia's 2004 Olympic bronze medalists Mat Helm and
Robert Newbery (432.78).
The competition ends on Wednesday.
