Shanghai Shenhua has finally ended their losing streak with a
1-0 win over the visiting Tianjin Teda to move up to fifth on the
CSL table.
Gao Ling was on scoresheet for the first time this season and it
was enough for Shenhua to edge past Tianjin Wednesday afternoon at
the 8th round of the domestic soccer league.
Shanghai's other outfit, Shanghai United, meanwhile suffered its
third straight loss, going down 0-2 away to newcomer Changchun
Yatai.
Shenhua coach Wu Jingui changed his starting lineup which did
wonders 10 minutes into the match.
Fed on by Wang Ke's cross, Honduran striker Luis Ramirez broke
into the box and passed the ball to unmarked Gao who slotted in the
winner.
The home team created many chances upfront but its strikers,
found wanting since the start of the season, once again flopped to
beat the rival's netminder. The victory boosted Shenhua to 5th with
12 points. United is one point shy on 6th.
Elsewhere, Shandong trounced Xi'an International 5-1 in Ji'nan
for its fifth win in a row. It leads the table with 21 points.
Yatai (14) is second, followed by Dalian Shide (13) and Beijing
Guo'an (12).
In the other eighth-round matches yesterday, it was: Chongqing
Lifan 0, Shenyang Ginde 1; Liaoning Zhongyu 2, Shenzhen Kingway 1;
Xiamen Lions 0, Qingdao Zhongneng 0.
