Chinese players have been given the top seeds in men's doubles,
women's singles and women's doubles for the 2006 Badminton World
Championships, the International Badminton Federation
announced.
China dominates the women's events, with three players in the
top 10 in singles and four pairs in the doubles top 10.
Zhang Ning and Gao Lin/Huang Sui became the top seeds of their
respective events.
In men's singles, 24-year-old Malaysian Lee Chong Wei kept the
number one spot ahead of China's Lin Dan and Chen Jin. Two other
Chinese players, Chen Hong and Bao Chunlai are seeded sixth and
seventh.
Defending champion Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia is unseeded.
Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng were named the top seeds in men's
doubles.
Olympic gold medalists Zhang Jun and Gao Lin were seeded third
in mixed doubles.
The seedings for the international championships are determined
by the latest world rankings, which were released on Thursday.
The world championships will be held in Madrid from September 18
to 24.
