Koenigsegg first came to the fore with the 2003 CC8S, followed soon after by the even more powerful CCR and CCX models. Now in a bid to prize the production car speed record from the Veyron Supersport, comes the mighty Agera boasting 920bhp and a 250mph+ max. Perhaps not totally new, but a heavily reworked CCX, the Agera nevertheless weighs in at just 1285Kg, boasting a superb 720bhp/ton power to weight ratio and formidable 1.6g of lateral grip. What is new is the quality hi-tech interior with unique 'nanotube' illuminated switchgear within a carbon fibre console. There's even a detachable hardtop roof should the mood take you.
Koenigsegg aim to produce around 20 Ageras a year from 2011. At almost 800,000 Euros it is insanely expensive but still far cheaper than a Veyron. Let's hope there are enough adrenaline junkie billionaires around to sustain cars such as these.
