Flooding closed the Point Grey campus for four-and-a-half days in 1935, before the installation of stormwater drains. Founded in 1908, UBC today is home to more than 40,000 students and 9,000 faculty and staff. The main 998-acre campus is situated on a peninsula about six miles from central Vancouver.
