Dick Advocaat, dubbed "the Little General", took over from Guus Hiddink as manager or the Russia National Team in May 2010, signing a four-year contract. Though the specific figure remained undisclosed, his salary was said to vary around £3.5 million a year, only half of his predecessor's. His team has won the group and thereby secured automatic qualification for Euro 2012.
Advocaat has coached a number of clubs in the Netherlands and abroad, as well as the national teams of several other countries. The latter include the teams of South Korea, the United Arab Emirates and Belgium. He will return to the PSV Eindhoven next season on a one-year deal, starting from Jul. 2012. It is precisely there that he achieved his first big successes as a coach (1995 to 1998).
