Located in Guangdong Province, Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), originally known as Guangdong University, was founded in 1924 by Dr. Sun Yat-sen, who is considered the father of modern-day China. The university consists of four campuses: Guangzhou South Campus, Guangzhou North Campus, Guangzhou East Campus and Zhuhai Campus. According to SYSU, as of April 2011, there were a total of 85,100 students enrolled at the school, including 32,111 undergraduates and 20,815 graduate students.
