Wu Yajun, a female entrepreneur focusing on Chinese property development, took the No.1 spot on a new wealth ranking of self-made businesswomen.
The 48-year-old founder and chairman of Beijing-based Longfor Properties reported a personal fortune of 38 billion yuan, and was trailed by Chinese real estate magnate Chen Lihua and Spanish garment tycoon Rosalia Mera, according to a list released Friday by Hurun Research Institute.
China gave rise to 11 of the world’s 22 self-made women billionaires (US dollars), while the US has 5. On average, these billionaires are worth 13.7 billion yuan, a 6.8 percent decrease from last year.
Thirty percent of the women billionaires work in the property sector, while 20 percent come from manufacturing and 14 percent from the garment trade.
