Hurun recently released its Global Rich List 2015, a ranking of all the billionaires in the world according to their asset values in terms of U.S. dollars. This is the fourth year that the Hurun Report has released a ranking of the world’s billionaires.
The number of billionaires in the world grew by 222 last year to a total of 2,089 individuals. Among them, 529 billionaires -- or 23 percent of the total -- are of Chinese origin. New energy king Li Hejun is China’s new number one billionaire with US$26 billion in assets. Wang Jianlin rebounded after listing real estate and cinema units, while Jack Ma fell to third after a drop in Alibaba’s share price.
China leads in the number of female self-made billionaires. Of the 69 female self-made billionaires in the world, 35 are from China. A total of 279 Chinese female billionaires are on Hurun’s list. The following are the top 10 of them.
