About 1,700 passengers are projected to travel via highways in Tibet per day during the annual Spring Festival travel peak, according to Tibet Business.
"Many farmers and herders from Lhokha in southeastern Tibet and Nagchu in northern Tibet begin doing Spring Festival shopping as the Tibet New Year is drawing near, which increases the passenger flow," Gao Huiqing, deputy head of the passenger bus station in the western suburbs of Lhasa.
By 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 1 the station has handled 1180 passengers, whose number is still on the increase.
