Chongyang Festival
Chongyang Festival is also known as the "Double Ninth Festival" which usually takes place on the ninth day of the ninth month according to the Chinese lunar calendar. It is a celebration based on the philosophy of "Yin and Yang", considered as the juxtaposed doctrine of nature. Yin is the feminine part of nature which is considered to be a negative force, while Yang is the masculine and thereby is positive.
There are traditional practice of drinking chrysanthemum wines and eating chrysanthemum cakes during the festival of Chongyang. Chrysanthemum is considered an herbal medicine that helps in detoxification.
