Second station: Wanzhou, Chongqing Municipality
The Three Gorges (simplified Chinese: 三峽) region is a scenic area along the Yangtze River spanning Chongqing Municipality and Hubei Province with a total length of approximately 200 kilometers. It is composed of Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge, starting from the White Emperor City in Chongqing's Fengjie county in the west and ending at Nanjin Pass in Hubei's Yichang city in the east. Wanzhou in Chongqing is the best western starting place to make a Three Gorges Cruise.
It is well-known for the spectacular scenery, famous places of interest and relics such as White Emperor City, Zhangfei Temple, the hometown of Quyuan, the hometown of Wang Zhaojun and Sanyou Cave. Besides, the Three Gorges region attracted attention globally due to the construction of the Three Gorges Dam, which is changing the scenery of the region.
