Experts from the central and Ningxia?departments of land and resources have discovered lead and zinc, gold, silver, copper and iron deposits in Zhongwei City. The explorers initially divided the region into five target zones based on a survey and evaluation on the area's mineral potential. Seven gold-copper mineral belts with promising mining potential have been identified in the northern stretch of the Helan Mountains.
