China Central Television
CCTV (China Central Television) is the national TV station and has nearly 20 channels. When turning on your hotel TV, you will most likely see CCTV9 (not necessarily found on channel 9), the English-language which is useful for news and weather. 7pm-7.30pm is the national prime time for news, followed by weather forecast. Foreign TV channels are limited, or nonexistent, depending on your hotel service. English-language magazines and newspapers (see below) are available at bookstores, big hotels, restaurants and bars where expats hang out.
